The player controls Pac-Man, and attempts to score as many points as possible by eating all the Pac-Dots in the maze, while avoiding the four ghosts that chase him around the maze and will kill him if they catch him. Eating a Power Pellet will cause the ghosts to turn blue and become vulnerable for a short period of time, allowing Pac-Man to eat them for extra points. Once the maze has been cleared, it will be refilled as the gameplay continues. The most noticeable differences between the original game and Plus are various tweaks to the graphics: the maze is green instead of blue, vulnerable ghosts are shorter and have a stem and leaf sticking out of their heads, the fruits have been replaced by new items (including a can of ) and the ghosts' eyes are now a pixel closer to each other.

Atari Joystick This shows the Easter egg as it exists in the Atari Jakks Pacific port of the original Adventure game where the creator's name, Warren Robinett, was removed and replaced with 'TEXT?' This console was released in 2002. Jakks Pacific has made a number of retro TV game devices. They all use batteries and most of them are for a single player only. One of the only exceptions is the Deluxe Atari Paddles that are made for one or two players that is what I cover here.

In addition to these cosmetic changes, Plus also changes the gameplay slightly: eating a bonus item will cause the ghosts to turn both vulnerable and invisible, and doubles their point value while they are vulnerable. Eating a Power Pellet also sometimes has unpredictable results, such as turning the maze invisible or turning only three of the four ghosts blue (the latter of which makes it impossible to clear a round by using a pattern). The ghosts are also faster and more aggressive than they were in the original Pac-Man, which makes the game seem overall faster-paced and more difficult by comparison. Development [ ]. Pac-Man Plus was an upgrade kit for Namco Pac-Man boards. It consisted of a module which connected via a ribbon cable to the socket originally occupied by the Z-80 microprocessor. The module contained its own Z-80 microprocessor as well as additional components. It was potted with epoxy to prevent easy reverse-engineering. Additionally, the kit also replaced the 4 Pac-Man program roms on the main game board with new code. Two other roms containing updated data for drawing character and maze were also exchanged.

Archived from groups: rec.games.video.classic () >From what I read, these units don't exactly reproduce the arcade versions, and the controllers aren't all that great. Fixing the controllers shouldn't be that hard. I would just get out the Dremel & soldering iron and get me a DB9 jack @ Radio Shack, and put in an Atari joystick port (for this, the new Atari Flashback 2 joysticks are fab!) However, regarding the actual games - is it possible to hack these units, maybe with a flash memory upgrade using the original arcade ROM images (that MAME uses), so they play the original arcade games, and maybe even some new ones? (Mr Do anyone? Berzerk?) Namco TV Games Namco II: Ms Pac-Man with 5 TV Games. Archived from groups: rec.games.video.classic () I don't know, I think they are faithful reproductions of the arcade games (except with high scores moved to the side and all.) I was able to make the infamous Galaga no-shooting trick work on the Namco II joystick game.

I couldn't believe it when it actually worked! I wouldn't have thought they would have deliberately coded that bug into the game, so it has to be emulating ROMs. Any Pac/MsPac experts out with these? Do the patterns used for the arcade games work with the Namco joysticks? All the hidden stuff for Xevious is there as well (Flags, citadels, etc), and the ships come out exactly like the arcade game. Anyone hacking the Namco Battle Museum on the PSP?
