Sementara itu, tuntutan konstektualitas penelitian hukum justru makin menggebu dan terus menggugat kapabilitas ilmu hukum (dalam arti luas) untuk menjawab kebutuhan-kebutuhan masyarakat, khususnya dalam konteks keindonesiaan. Dua belas bab dari buku ini tidak saja menawarkan panorama hasil pemetaan ragam pemikiran hukum dengan segala konsekuensi metodologisnya, melainkan juga merefleksikan hasil konstelasi itu dalam tawaran pendekatan yang relatif baru, yaitu penelitian sosiolegal.
